You just need a sewing machine, some fabric, and the willingness to try.
UNRAVELED is my unconventional approach to making clothes from scratch and giving secondhand textiles a brand new life.
I’ve never taken a course, read a book or even watched a single youtube video on how to do anything sewing related. i just sat day one day and figured it out. 6 years later im still here, sewing is my career and i'm ready to share my hard learned tips and tricks with you so you don't have to trial and error it yourself.
I don’t follow patterns. I don’t obsess over measurements. Half the time, I couldn’t tell you the technical name of the seam I’m using.
But I know how to make clothes.
And that’s what I want to teach you.
THIS IS NOT YOUR AVERAGE SEWING COURSE.
We’re skipping the intimidating sewing vocabulary and the endless rules.

Because once you understand the fundamentals, you don’t need someone else’s pattern telling you exactly where to cut.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

You do not need to purchase any of these things but these are what im familiar with and will be using and referring to in my videos. I always first suggest looking for items secondhand or shopping in person before buying online but i felt obligated to share what ill be working with in this course with you so you can be prepared.
A MACHINE, DUH.
I will be teaching on the Singer Heavy Duty 4452 machine. The heavy duty machine is helpful for the thicker fabrics we will be using. Without the heavy duty machine you may find your fabric not feeding through your machine as easy, tension and thready build up problems could become an issue as well as breaking needles. I will also be serging my edges for a cleaner look. This is not a necessary step but can be helpful to stop fraying. I will be teaching on the SINGER S0100 High Speed Serger Overlock Machine. I always suggest looking on marketplace first for secondhand machines, however sometimes secondhand machines with use can have issues. *keep in mind*
SOME CUTTERS, DUH.
Fabric scissors are important because they cut through anything like butter. while its satisfying it also serves more of a purpose by avoiding frayed material. i like the 7" singer scissors. a longer blade is helpful for cutting straighter lines in big projects. Also ask your grandma if she has any extras first because thats way cooler than buying new.
SOME POKERS, OBVS.
trust me with this info more than any other info i tell you. you need leather needles when working with the textiles we will be working with.
NOTE* you can find these at fabric-land or walmart for $7, but on a whim, they're here, too.
